Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts and Education!
You have found the most diverse of the colleges at ĢƵ, where our vast array of majors, minors, certificates, master's, and doctoral programs offer extraordinary opportunities for your educational future. I invite you to tour our web pages to get to know our innovative programs, our top-notch faculty, and our highly accomplished staff. The University of New Orleans is a Carnegie Classified Research 2 University and in 2024, was one of only five designated R1 or R2 in Louisiana.
All of us in the College of Liberal Arts and Education value the entire experience of the student, starting from the moment you contact us to inquire about our programs and extending to the moment you walk across the commencement stage, shake hands with the president, and receive your diploma. After graduation, we hope you will remain closely connected to us: many of our alumni contribute time and talent to our advisory boards, teach classes as adjunct instructors, and help promote COLAED by serving as our ambassadors in the community. For those looking to us in search of professional opportunities, I’m confident that the enthusiasm we feel for our work as faculty and staff, as well as the commitments we share to the college and the university, shine forth in the pages that follow. Let us know if we may provide information about any of the opportunities you see on our pages—and come see us “in real life” when you are able to do so!
In case you missed it, ĢƵ is rejoining the LSU System in 2026. As a result, many webpages will be updated or changed as well. While we are working through the details of precisely what that means, one thing is for sure: since 1958, just as ĢƵ has been here for your grandparents and your parents, we will continue to be here for you, your children, and grandchildren, serving the region as THE state university for the greater New Orleans region and Louisiana’s only Urban Research State University.
